Now you've had some time to play around; how are you finding the forum?

Yes they were already ticked.
They are not in my 'Clutter' or 'Junk Email' sections.

haha... wow I have just had 11 emails show up in my 'In Box'. Looks like it's sorted.

I haven't changed a thing lol so I'm guessing it was an email issue.
What email provider do you use?

We use outlook at work. It's a works thing that's maybe causing all the problems.
Thanks for you help anyhow.
You can delete all my whinging posts above if you want, to keep thinks on track. Just leave post #24 so people know about the 'Thanks' button.

If I am honest I do prefer this software , the 1st day it was very confusing but that was to be expected. Now I look at it like when you 1st get a new Mobile phone, learning how it all works is the fun part. Deffo wouldn't want to go back to the old format, this is much nicer to work with and looks a 1000 times better.

Im struggling with it a 'little' but I think thats mainly to do with being so used to how it was before.

It's a shame that the 'thanks' button has gone. A 'like' button is good but this may well just show how funny someone has been it doesn't show at all how helpful someone has been. It may sound a little sad but I liked the fact that I had a reasonable ratio of thanks to posts and now all those thanks that had been accumulated over the years have just gone. I also liked the fact I could say 'thankyou' to someone, it was polite.

Hopefully if you've started this thread Dan it means that you are interested in people's views and if others feel the same perhaps you could reinstate it?

it looks more modern and its faster however I found the old forum a little easier to read. I think its because the old forum had stronger colour separation and so things stood out clearer. Now its all modern and streamlined and for me a little more difficult to concentrate on. Its an improvement overall though.

I do use the new posts thread a lot, is that actually up to date throughout all the forum topics?

The thanks button isn't coming back. It's clutter, it's required as the like can be used to like a post in the same way you thank a post.

There are a few activity streams. The new posts button is all new posts. Then http://www.electriciansforums.co.uk/account/news-feed is the news feed. Click on your name in the main blue menu bar and you see the link to news feed.

I reluctantly agree with Dan about the Thanks button. I was a big fan, but some folks (especially new or irrecgular users) didn't use it much. It seemed to be that in the early days it was used lots, and folk were generally quite appreciative of advice given... I think the legend amberleaf had summat like an 85% posts to thanks ratio. So it's gone the same way as "thank you" cards in real life.

I do miss the global activity feed, though. "New posts" is nice; but often threads go downhill and you have to click on the thread to see if it's been updated with an interesting post, or if it's just degenerated. Your own News Feed gives you a nice post-by-post account of what's been put up by those you're following, and it's great because you can see the first couple of lines of the post. But I'm not going to follow everyone, and it's nice to see what people in general are currently talking about, with a couple of lines of their post shown. With the old activity feed, I often ended up looking at threads I wouldn't normally have done due to their thread title, but then I picked up on because the latest posts themselves looked interesting.

As for look and feel - lots lots better on a phone, and seems snappier too. Generally good stuff :)
