Headline in our local evening paper, The Yorkshire Evening Post Leeds.

Yet another lowlife moron is pictured on the front page displaying his well earned burns and scars with the usual "lucky to be alive" headline. He's been stealing cable, or at least trying to.

When will these idiots learn. My opinion is he is unlucky to be alive, cos if the pillock was dead he couldn't try it again could he.

My only sympathy in all this is for the people who were put out cos they couldn't get their trains home or came home to no power to make their tea after a hard days work, and the hospital staff who had to put the loser back together again wasting more of our NHS cash and occupying a much needed bed for which could be better used.

Surely even to the simplest of beings it is obvious that electricity can kill, and you shouldn't play with live cables.....or am i missing something here!

Doesn't matter what is said or done there will be numpties that will try and pinch it while it is still live.

If someone was killed whilst nicking the cable I would not be surprised read that their family is trying to sue someone because they had died.

Years ago while preparing for a nice nightshift @ a Well known supermarket we went into the back yard to bring in our lifter to find every manager out there clearing yard of old unused POS holders plant stands ect I asked if there was BIG area managers visit due( would have affected our work ) only to be told that some scrote had climbed a wall down south and fallen on a POS holder impaling his buttocks and unable to move or raise alarm till morning as there was a curfue on yard operations HE SUED them for endangering his life by not clearing yard So it wouldnt surprisse me if Network Rail arent told to turn power OFF before going to bed

as long as the RCDwas 100ma S type, with the terminals linked no problem.

Having switched a 3.3KV OH line on I radioed the electrician in the receiving sub to tell him to close the transformer feeders. “OK I can close them but there’s nothing on the volt meter down here”.

Chavs had nicked near on a mile of the line!
