Hi all, hoping some 1 out there can help me on the following problem. just recently qualified and have this nightmare situation with no experience on the following problem.
I have nuissance tripping on a 30mA RCD. it trips at random times and can go as long as 5 days before it goes again. the customer has kept a log of items thats on at the time of the trip but nothing seems to be the same everytime it goes.
It has one 30mA rcd protection covering all the circuits. The board was installed 7 years ago and its a TT system.
I have carried out a full test and here are some of the reading.
Ra of electrod= 235ohms
lowest value for IR was 79M ohms all the rest was above 200M ohms
RCD test, this would trip on the half times test and 1 * was 29ms and 5* was 19ms.
my Zs reading was between 54ohms and 55 ohms on all circuits.
I have replaced the RCD for a a new 1 but still the same. The house is built on top of rock so ive had problems trying to get a new rod into the ground so the only way ive been able to get the readings down is by adding another rod a meter away from my 1st and runing a 16mm from the board to my 1st, looping onto the rod and goin to the next rod(one continiuos run, removed insulation and looped to the next rod) is this allowed???
Also when im taking PSC reading, im getting a a message on meter hi value. is this the norm for TT systems.
Any answers would be greatly appreciated.
