NVQ Level 3 - C&G 2356

Hi Guys,

Im trying to figure out the best route into the industry for someone with some knowledge, but no real experience and no qualifications.

As far As I can figure out, what you really want is the 2356 level 3 work based assessment, is that right?

It seems that in order to get that, you first need to do the 2330 level 2 & 3.

Is this the best path to follow, or are there quicker ways?

Once you have 2356 level 3, are you a fully qualified electrician, or are there other certs you need?

Really appreciate your thoughts.

People will tell you many of paths but way i went was 2330 then NVQ 2356 then JIB will make you down as Electrician.

Try and get yourself on with a electrical company as a mate and college part time doing the C&G2330. Then your NVQ3 2356 once completed do your 17th edition wiring regs 2382 then your a sparks about 4 yearsoh and (AM2 some where in between)

Thanks for the replies.

The reason I can't really go down the mate route is because I earn good money at the moment, and have a martgage. I can't afford to take the low rates offered to mates.

The 2330 route looks good to me as you can do distance learning. I know people have bad words for the short courses, but I was looking at the train 4 trade skill course as this takes you from 2330 all the way to level 3 2356.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this course?

2330 and the 2356 are to finish this year. They will be replaced by 2357, combined 2330 and 2356. Someone has said it is to stop these 'fast track' schemes on the 2330, but not sure about this. Would seem to be harder to do the new one though without being in the trade.

Thanks steve. With the course I was looking at its an expected duration of 24 months, so not really fasttrack.

I just don't want to move at the rally slow pace I expect from an evening course. (2 yrs for 2330 level 2 - 2 nights a week.)

I will contact c and g, as you suggest. Thanks so much, for your advice, it sounds like it may be good for me to get on with the current 2330 before it ends!
