make sure you try get the NVQl3 (site-diaries as we used to call them) back if possible, a big regret i have - maybe thats me been a sentimental bugger but would love to look through that massive chunky file i submitted at the time.
I also here there is a new NVQ for domestic installations only coming out in april to be a Qualified supervisor to join a scheme and I beleive should be available now and to also be a QS for commercial /industrial From April there is a new NVQ diploma for building / structures and the environment so new Prposed Qs will need one of the newer above quals after April…

If you look at the EAS documents from the IET it looks like someone with the 2356 and 2391 would meet the equivalent criteria for both the new domestic and commercial/industrial QS requirements.
I feel the new NVQ requirements are good I know some will disagree but it will stop Electrical Trainee setting up on their own, as to register they will need the NVQ appropriate time their area of expertise. Even new NAPIT, stromal, etc members would need the NVQ to comply with the EAS requirements which are used for their UKAS accreditation.
Another thing I thought about is how will existing scheme members cope who did the 5wk course and got a "part p" cert which lasts 5yrs? EAL have abandoned their domestic installer qualification due to the new NVQ requirements.
I may be being an optimistic but maybe the trade isn't going down the pan. I don't think people should be stopped from coming into the trade but their should be "official" and defined routes.

Didn't know any of that - learn something new every day...hope what you've said is completley true, because its refreshing.
Couldn't agree more. I'm still pesimistic, and won't believe anything untill the current setup changes. Electrical Trainee as everyone will agree is a complete joke, makes a mock of everyone that's done it the proper, correct and professional route. Something has to change, and providing you're correct Andrew it looks a step in the right direction
Question, everyone that has done the Electrical Trainee and has set-up on their own...when they're registration is up for renewal does this mean they'll be refused even though they've already been registered? Or, isit that everyone who has gone the Electrical Trainee route at the moment has slipped the net and we have to put up with them?
