cakey

Yesterday I was testing continuity on a ring final circuit pre cu change and on testing r1 i got 235 ohms. So i split the neutrals and test for rn and get open circuit. Then tried testing r1 again and this time get open circuit instead of the 235 ohms. Connect the neutrals back together and r1 is 235ohms again. Didn't have time to split ring up but any ideas for when I go back Monday? Cpc measured 0.46. Thanks

get a wander lead and a socket break-out box and go round the rfc on r1 and rn. =that's the quickest way to track down th break without splitting ring.

You get a wander lead and a ohm meter ( MFT whatever). connect 1 meter lead to 1 end of the rfc L at CU, other lead to 1 end of wander lead. then you go round the sockets with the other end of the wander lead in a break-out box. ( usint the L terminal)

Or if you have continuity in one of the conductors you could connect the broken conductor to the good one on one side of the rfc then follow the sockets round testing between the two conductors at each socket. Same as tels way but the conductor with the continuity replaces the wander lead I guess.
