so a new Amendment 3 board , to me it will be the cause of the fire in the first place neutral bar split when torqued to the required setting and it was the manufacturers side wont [ElectriciansForums.net] oh dear oh dear progress eh[ElectriciansForums.net] oh dear oh dear progress eh be buying any of these boards again

I normally use BG been a good board for me for many years but as there is a change i thought i'd give a change , my Opinion is that consumer units should be of a high standard regardless of the make , I have had issues with lots of boards Wylex Schnieder contactum etc not used Hagar as in this area no one stocks them , i think the majority of the fires caused in these consumer units have been caused but loose connections poorly installed and in some cases may be caused by utility companies changing meters and not checking the connections on the consumer units after the meters have been changed this is why i have for years i use no5 SWA cable cleets to secure the meter tails in position and stop them moving , and is also the reason wiska have produced a stuffing gland for meter tails , as for the LAP board , its being ripped out tomorrow and replaced with a Schneider board , and the manufacturers of the LAP board will be getting the invoice

On BG boards I have found some of the screws on both the neutral and earth bars were cross threaded or very tight , applying the correct torque still left the termination loose , so you have to use a large flat driver and recheck all terminations after a couple of hours ...

As long as you do that then the boards are not too bad..

I use mainly Hager CUs and switches etc. I have noticed in the last few months that some of the heads on the screws on their sockets etc have been far too easy too shear off. They don't like being fitted, undone and refitted again very often.
