id normally only do minor works, surface mounted work when there is a 3036 wylex board in a domestic with no RCD, but ive got a customer who wants a new cooker point, whats the regs with connecting into the board? We've discussed a run so i can keep the wiring surface, trunking/under units, but i cant convince him to install a garage db with RCD,

whats the best thing to do?

cheers

If the cabling is all surface then no RCD is required if you are fitting a cooker control unit without socket outlet.

Re: Old 3060 Boards

If you are running a complete new circuit and wiring it into the old board then that circuit will require an electrical installation certificate and not a minor works.
If you are extending an existing circuit then minor works will be fine. As for RCD if you can keep your new wires surface mounted or in trunking then you will not require an RCD provided that you do not include a socket outlet in the cooker control panel.
BS 3036 fuses are still allowable under BS7671.
Electrical work in a kitchen is notifiable under part P.
Hope this helps

Re: Old 3060 Boards

a EIC will be issued, and it will be notified,
i wasnt sure if 3036's were still allowable as i try not to connect into them if i can help it,

thanks for the info,

Just realised i typed 3060 as the title and not 3036 never mind

cheers

Yes they're there all right... Page 48 and 49 of BRB for max Zs tables.... Lower values than the usual 60898 type B, but still easily achievable.

Though it's a cooker point and most likely not relevant in your cae, but a lot of old 3036 boards don't like protection devices over 30/32 amp. So if you were going to install a 40amp supply it might pay you to fit a small board.
