Hi, i was wondering if you guys could take a look at these two photos and give me a hand. I have installed a new distribution board in a very old apartment and have removed the old board and the old 16mm tails from the box above. I have my new 25mm tails and now I have completely forgotten which terminals I removed the old tails from. Massive error I know.

There is a drawing on the inside of the box as well, but this just confuses me as it seems to me that the supply tails have been previously terminated by whoever did it in the past into the load side? Do you agree? Neither cable is marked so I do not know which is Live or Neutral, obviously leaving me to guess where to put my new tails from the box to the distribution board, which is never good. I also thing the box is upside down judging by the writing on the left hand side of the photo and the specification/termination drawing as well!!

Any advice? obviously just need to know where to terminate my new tails!

Thanks

I am actually qualified from college, however I have no experience due to struggling to get an apprenticeship throughout my college, have only done a bit of first and second fixing for a small company in London. Just looking for any advice on how to do this, even if I get someone else to do it I would still like to learn how!

As above, pay a competent electrician to come in and watch what they do.

Too many people on this site expect knowledge for no cost.

Apply the knowledge you were taught about voltage testing
Using an approved voltage tester to the conductors with reference to earth, then come back with your findings and get them confirmed

Do not use guesswork, and by the way, if this is a wind up,please get a life

Post your location and a forum member might offer to lend you test gear and tell you how to use it so that you can save a bit of money.

jjrules please, please, please get somebody in that can do the job instead of guessing where to put your tails.

Fair enough your trying to gain experience but ask any good sparky and they will tell you when they know when they have hit his own limit. Walk away or get someone in mate, no good will come from you going any further with this.

i agree with the comments / advice you have had - this has all the hall marks of a wind up - you can see from the pic where your tails were, but the worrying part is ( apart from the fact you are doing the job ) is that the so called supply looks to be 2.5 pyro, and you are thinking you can upgrade the 16mm tails to 25 ! why? If this is a genuine job, get someone to work with you who can show you the ropes - the way you are going some nice bloke with a red gown and funny wig will be showing you the rope on the gallows! Cant see how that unit has been working the way it was intended and looks as if it has been used as a joint box, nothing more, nothing less!

I'll give you one piece of advice, which I use a lot myself...and seeing as you can take lovely pictures...

Whenever you come across a new bit of gear or something that's not obvious to reassemble etc etc, take a load of pictures. Only takes seconds and you've got something to refer back to then.
I've got Gigabytes of valves and all sorts in bits, saved my backside a few times!

You've forgotten which tail goes where?

To disconnect any tails from any board you must have had to isolate them rather at an isolation unit or the main incomer fuse. Which one was it?

Open up the iso or main fuse and visually trace the tails or do it the correct way and test it.

I'm sorry gentlemen but this is a late night wind up or a Diyer that had bought a 50 quid cu from a shed. If I'm wrong I will apologise only if you can answer me this question:-

What does appendix 6 (intro) section v, say?

You've qualified from college so a simple 17th question should be like a duck to water.

I dont beleve for one second you have any electrical qualifications

Call a real electrician mate before you are up in court on a manslaughter charge, electricity and gas are not to be taken lightly, you are literally messing with peoples lives
