I have acquired a fairly large amount of old colours T&E, all brand new rolls. I am considering what to do with it. I believe it can still be used if you sleeve brown and blue, is this correct? Seems a bit rough though somehow.

I have also considered just scrapping it, but don't think I can be bothered stripping it all.

Finally, I see it is going for big money on ebay, but then I can imagine some DIYer buying it to make it look like old work and killing himself.

Any thoughts?

Not that I know much about FP tel except I occasionally use for the odd job but I thought any used for 24v etc had to have a Red outer sheath ? having thought about it it's gonna be a cost saving thing isn't it ? one run of Br Bl for all voltage bands wrong mind you as you say

what really gets up my nose, apart from the gross stupidity of these new colours anyway, is that FP200 now comes in brown/blue. since when did a regulation come in that 24V d.c. cables should be any colour other than red (+), black(-).?
I think it's the change that all cables for alarms now have to be in FP (not just the supply). So the zone/sounder chains also have to be run in FP as well.

yes they do, but why the hell should 24V d.c. be in brown/blue when d.c. is forever red/black?

The regs have stipulated brown/blue for DC for some time ya ludite??? :D. Shame they haven't got it changed on all the control panels as well (all the shower/boiler/alarm panel boards are still in red and black internally). All the installed ones I come across are in 1.5mm T/E (mind you most of those are still red/black).

I could use it for additions and alterations, sleeved and noted on cert. Wouldn't use it for a rewire.

Nothing at all wrong with using red/black t&e for additions and alterations, even new circuits where the existing circuits are red/black.
Noted as a departure (120.3) you will still have a compliant installation without the confusion to an unsuspecting DIY'er of mixed colours and a warning label he/she may not read.

Why throw it away? It's not gone out of date (as such!)
