Hi

I am looking for a solution for an on-site megger. The product should be connected permanent to a generator, when the generator is turned off, i would like to do the insulation measurements remotley from a computer. I have been searching the internet, but all i can find is handheld meggers!

Please help

I was actually thinking about 1000vdc. Ofcourse it should be connected correctly. It is not critical, but when the generator is placed in a windturbine fare away. Then it is not easy just to go yourself and make the measurements.

That's not how IR monitors work, If you check the links above in post #12, this will give you some idea of how these type of IR monitors keep a check on motor windings etc!!

Planned Preventative Maintenance

Manse dont take this the wrong way but are you sure you should be getting involved in this would it not be better to farm this project out to a specialist contractor ?

If it is to be used twice a year why dont you have a PPM system set up and this would test it every 3 months (manually of course)

If this is located in a remote location, and only used twice a year. You would still need internet etc, so how were you planning on powering the the net box etc, if the wind turbine is your only means of power??? ... i'm only assuming here!! lol!!

Hehe.. It is still connected to the grid, so there is power and net all the time! But i think this discussion has tanken a wrong turn. I'll ask somewhere else.. Thanks

What !!!!!!! so let me get this right I take it you are not getting the answers you want so you are going elsewhere ? but if you did get the answers you wanted and say something would you take the credit from your company ? But is 6 months later something went wrong I supose you could blame one of us and then try to claim our PI insurance.

I have to say for sheer gall this post tops it all and I have learned a valuable lesson which do help somebody fly a kite it may just hit an overhead lead plus save me any glib remarks I have unsucscribed form this post

NO... i was simply searching for a megger device that could be used remotely (reed all my other posts). And hoping that any of you maybe knew a supplier or a wep page where i could get more information.!! Relax it is only research!
