What edition or year were cable zones introduced in the regs

Just Nothing like they are today!!! lol!!!

From what little i can remember of them, it was a vertical straight line above/below a wall point lighting or power. May also have been a horizontal line rule in there somewhere too. ..lol!!!

I cant answer it either, but it was probably down to a bit of common sense in earlier times. I have worked on houses which were wired in the 40's and i have never seen a socket in a bathroom in one, so there probably was some sort of reg to cover it. I only really got going in this game under the 16th.

I think cable zones were introduced in the 16th edition, Amendment 2, 1997, from memory.

noticed allot of older (20+ years) stuff they used to run them anywhere they wanted too. From top left to bottom right etc lol.

Lots of the older stuff was clipped surface or in wooden trunking on the surface
It was probably a reversal of todays install, where most cables are buried.previously most were surface,so zoning may not have the same degree of prominance as today
