Only a farmer could do this !!!!

I went out to break down on one of our Dairy clients last night , and whilst outside on the phone wandering around as you do talking on the phone , I spotted this !


That is a view from the ramp of his slurry lagoon , and although it is actually quite empty at the moment that pole is currently under about 3-4 foot off the smelly stuff !

It's only LV. He'll just have to pay when the pole rots through.

I pity the poor lines man that gets called out on a dark stormy night in the middle of winter when that pit is nearly full .
If he is not paying attention and walks out across that , as soon as you go through the crust , it is only a matter minutes and he's a gone .
I have seen beasts go in before and it truly is no way to go !

When we were still commercial dairy , it used to be my job ( on the thankfully exceptionally rare occasion of having an incident ) to go in on tin sheets and try and rope the unfortunate beast . I would be in the lagoon and another would be on the bank with a loader / telehandeler to lift and pull , and my brother would also be stood with an auto 12gauge just in case all else failed and the suction of the s""" won over .
We personally never lost one , but I knew others that had .
The lagoon was about the only thing we did not miss about farming , when we sold up .
