That will reduce the current.


Well if you reduce the voltage the current reduces also, that means I have misunderstood the first thing that I was taught, ohms law.
So I apologies for coming on here and claiming to be an electrician I will now retire and take up knitting. Have a nice life bye bye

No sorry that’s not my intention, the point I am trying to make is that the book is only a guide and certain things should be taken in to consideration when assessing a situation.
Diversity is a judgment not an exact science and I feel that just doing the maths is not enough.
Where I live we still have abnormal low voltage on certain parts of the island, this must be considered, its not in the book.
Right off you lot go, pick the snot out of that, I have put my tin hat on.

I agree to a certain extent, But the cooker diversity formula laid out in BS7671/OSG is about the only one in the book that actually works. And it's worked rather well for over 60+ years on cookers up to 15KW... And why the vast majority of household cooker circuits in the UK as a whole, are based around 7/044/6mm cable (usually T&E) protected by a 30/32A Breaker/fuse.

That may be so, but Ken Ohm was a Electrical Trainee and talked a load of crap, and should have stuck to his chinese cooking instead of branching out into electrics.

No it has not changed but you are just applying it incorrectly.

The resistance of the element in the cooker is fixed and cannot change, therefore if the resistance remains the same yet the voltage is lowered, then the current will be reduced too. QED

Check the clearance between the back panel and/or terminal cover that you've removed. Look for small burn marks.
