Hi,
Looking for some advise on suitable cable tensioners to support overhead feed from main dwelling to an outbuilding. Distance is approx 30 feet and cable will be 2.5mm T&E. Any guidance on suitable suppliers of equipment to help fix and support cable greatly received.
Thanks

T&E is not a suitable cable to be used on a external catenary wire installation, it's sheath has an extremely low UV factor. Choose a cable type that has a high UV resistance which will usually come with a black sheath. Others here can probably give you the type of cable most commonly used in the UK....

Many thanks to all replies, yes appreciate the poor UV and non best practice associated with proposed circuit instal. Have had lengthy chat with customer on exact same. Quick, temporary and CHEAP solution is wanted. Guess I ll be back in for an upgrade once the penny drops.
.

In that case it's gonna be nylon clothes line and LOTS of lovely Gaffer Tape - the Roadies best friend!!! ;)

That;ll do nicely, You'll go far daown West Wales bach, any idea on how to increase the price of a pint of milk? I may get to do a propoer job then!

The Gaffer Tape serves a dual purpose Bach

1. It secures the T&E cable to the clothesline.

2. It protects the insulation of the T&E from the U. V. radiation of the sun's rays. NOTE! Silver coloured Gaffer Tape works best!

3mm Catenery wire.

T&E outside is considered poor practise due to UV tolerance however it would last 20 years with no problems.

Will it?? apart from having a very low UV tolerance, it's also susceptible to freezing temperatures that will not only affect the sheath but also the conductors insulation!! So if it is subject to freezing temperatures in the winter, coupled with high winds on a catenary wire, it ain't gonna last 20 years or anything like it!!
