Outdoor floodlight gone dim

Hi guys

2 weeks ago ,I basically replaced a previous external standard light that was outside the house near the door with a 50w PIR floodlight. I kept the same cable that was connected to a switch inside . I attached the new floodlight using wago connections with new and old cable. Put it nicely in a junction box.

It is rated IP66. Also its under a canopy so hardly got any water etc on it.

It was working absolutely fine. However now it's coming on dim as shown In the attachment.

What could be the issue ? Did it need a fuse switch? Etc.

Looks like the fitting has gone bad. Possibly a busted led.

Would it have needed a fuse switch to reduce the current coming in ?

Nothing to do with fuses. It's just that common modern problem that most things are produced to the lowest price possible and consequently are utter crap.

They also run the leds at a higher current to make them brighter with less leds.
That causes premature failure in some of the fittings.

What make did you fit? I had lots of issues with Timeguard

Why did I just get a notification of a new post to this thread? I can't see one, but while I'm here, I've just found that one of my own three year old but hardly used floodlights has failed. Only a 20W one, but will still need time and effort to replace it.

Yes I got that as well, what make is yours, I have had so many issues with LED floodlights failing, mine are timegaurd

Haven't had a chance to look yet. What I do know is that it's the second one since 2015, when it was first installed.
It's only ever used by holiday guests when they let their dogs out for a few minutes late at night, although most never find the switch.
It's unlikely that the total burn time for both is more than 50 hours.

I fitted 8 x 6 foot led battens in a work shop bought from toolstation [integral] I used them because they were brighter than your average batten .3 of them have failed in the last 3 weeks .the 3 that have failed are the ones that are used most.they were like disco lights after 5 minutes of being switched on .contacted integral and they said there was an issue with Philips driver ,they now use tridonic .fair play they sent out 8 new fittings within days .the explanation I got was the driver heated up after longterm use.what I can't understand is the fitting is rated at 65 watts but still, the new driver is rated at 60 watts .I think they are designed for short term use like loft lights or even a kitchen light but certainly not comercial. I will no longer use them .
