Basic question maybe, but what would be wrong with feeding an outside light via a spurred FCU, suitably rated, from a ring? Can't find anything in the regs that suggests you couldnt? Cheers for any comments!
 
not a problem. FCU with a 3A fuse--job's a good 'un. BTW, if the light is fixed to the fabric of the building with no exposed connections, it's not subject to part pee (unless fitting the FCU in a kitchen or special location.).
 
Remember to get a double pole FCU Why well you are only as strong as your weakest link so if the FCU is on an RCD supply and you fit a single pole unit then say water has got into the light then you could disable the ring or even half the board if you fit a double pole unit the customer can switch it off reset the RCD Easy Peasy

Generally it would depend on the circumstances whether the armour is earthed both ends or not, and not just dependent on whether it's 2 or 3 core...
