Hi Everyone

Does anyone have recommendations on which outdoor twin socket/outdoor enclosure to use for Christmas lights? My main query is with them being Christmas lights they will have the big transformer plugs on and will the flap on the sockets/enclosure shut fully with these style plugs?

Thanks in advance

You may just have to get an ip rated enclosure big enough to put the socket and tree light plug in or as much as i hate them you can get one of those power boxes that house a 4 way extension lead in, that way you can plug it into a normal outdoor socket

Years ago, long before part p, and when I was still working full time as a sparky, I encountered this problem and resolved it using a CEEform plug and socket and wiring the plug to a standard 13A double gang metal clad socket which was fixed to the inside of an IP66 clear, hinged, cover enclosure. I used light armoured flex (the sort with a steel braid over 3 core flex and an overall clear PVC sheath over the braid) which I secured through the enclosure using the proper glad to provide strain relief as well as maintaining the IP rating. At least 3 of these that I made up are still in use 20 or so years since I made them up.

Alternatively, make sure the end user only buys lights with corded transformers, but as far as I can see there are not many of those about.
