Hi Peeps, would like your opinions on how you terminate cables in the middle of a garden for 12v lighting. My take on it is to run SWA and use the Sheath as cpc, with the SWA being terminated into Resin joints/Branches with submersable 240-12v Transfromers feeding mutliple 12v Spot lights. These 12v joint to be in a whiska box with magic gel or barrelled with adhesive lined Heat shrink. All the cabling to be burried. What about Pratley Boxes?

can i not just bury the cables without anything showing apart from the Tx's and draw a precise plan of where every thing is? The Tx's will indicate where the 240v joint is located (this being a resin joint or Pratley box).

I thought the idea was to lose sight of the TXs and have a means of terminating your SWA cables and the ELV connections. As such this type of enclosure would provide a solution to all those present problems....

its really a question of aesthetics as the garden is really fancy and although i really like the idea of the inspection pit (Will definitely bear in mind for future projects) they will just stand out too much and i know that the landscape gardener and customer won't go for this idea.

Why not go for mains voltage units then? You'll only need one joint per fitting then rather then two joints and a tranny in the middle. The thought of burying a item of electrical equipment is not a nice one IMO.

It's one of those lovely situations, the customer has had some fancy lighting company out to design it and they will be supplying some copper style 12v spike lights along with the submersible type Tx's. I won't be burying the Transformers, these will be the only things above the surface with the Lights
