Cooker control units to BS 4177 are designed for the connection of solid or stranded, rigid copper conductors. Units rated up to and including 32 A are suitable for conductors with a cross-sectional area (csa) of 4.0 mm2 to 10.0 mm2. Those units rated above 32 A and up to and including 45 A are suitable for conductors with a csa of 6.0 mm2 to 16.0 mm2.

I never said it could not be 10mm I just said that I have put my fair share of cookers in and to date have never used a 10 mm .. I have done a lot of kitchen installs recently that the kitchen fitter asks for two 6mm cables. And after a short calculation I put in one 6mm.

And by the way Elvis cooker by gas.
