oven installation tips

Good evening

I am fitting in a smeg oven at home and a bit confused with what size off cable it should be installed in and also if it can be safely connected to a fused spur on the kitchen ring or a separate circuit.

The cooker already comes supplied with a flex cable 1.5ml

Looking through the instruction It not very clear what cable size should be used

i have attached pics off the oven instructions. apologise

You say the cooker has a 1.5mm cable fitted. The manual also says to use a 1.5mm cable (under Cable Type).

The plate says it’s a 3kW appliance. It might overload an already busy circuit.
Does your house not already have a cooker circuit that can be used?

as above separate circuit would be better but it's allowable on a ring as long as other loads are taken into account.
My concern is the gas side, although it's a flueless cooking appliance, with >8kw heat input you would need to check the ventilation and check gas pressures with all appliances running, not as straightforward as the electrical side.

and the best tip of the day is.......

install oven in kitchen, as opposed to bedroom.OK that means giving 'er indoors a bit of freedom, but us men do need to eat.

Thanks for the replies. There is no existing cooker circuit in the house yet but the kitchen is get a refurb so should be no problems running a new circuit.

If I was to run a new wire should I increase the size off the cable which was already supplied with the oven ? It has already a 1.5ml flex cable.

At the moment it is wired in to a 13a fuse spur off the kitchen radial protected by a 20amp mcb.

i would run a 6.0mm feed off a 32A MCB to allow for ant future upgrades. then connect existing oven to 45A isolator feeding either a CCU or a 13A socket for th time being.

Thanks I think I will go for that option as it leaves flexibility for any future upgrades

There is not need to increase the size of the cable supplied with the oven, you just need to upgrade the fixed wiring the supplied cable is connected to (plugged into).
