I have my install booked for Friday 11th
Problem is, we have very old overhead cables that are un-insulated and need Southern Electric to sleeve them everytime we have work done on the roof. Called them yesterday and they said that unless it was an emergency, they would only do it next time they are in the area.
Any ideas on how to force them to sleeve the cables, or is there anyone else that can do it.
If I don't get my install because of this I will be a bit annoyed!!
TIA

You could inforce the ESQCR Regulations. What height are the cables and how do they terminate onto the building? Do the cables cross a access way etc. I will be back on forum tomorrow and give you more info if you can answer these few questions.

Cables run from the utility pole, across a main road at a hight of about 6.5m. They are attached to my chimney via some sort of insulated spacers and the insulated supply cables run from there to the consumer unit. there is less tham 1m of working space between the roof and the uninsulated cable. We are the only property on the road still using this type of cable, everyone else seems to have been upgraded. :(

I did think of that, I am waiting for a call back this afternoon by which time several of my ridge tiles will need replacing :)

Latest update

They have promised to do it Monday or Tuesday, weather and major failts permitting.

Might get that pv array yet
