Anyone who owns a Vivaro, be careful in this weather!, DO NOT try and clear large amounts of snow off your windscreen with your wipers!!

I did and found its achillies heel, the linkage is connected to the gearbox with a simple ball and socket arrangement as is normal, unfortunatly on this particular model, a large amount of snow is enough to dislocate the joint.

And re locating is a 2hr ish job that involves stripping the entire scuttle panel out!, no fun at all this evening, on the drive, in -2c with it snowing!

Also just dont buy them, ive got an 08 plate primemaster (same as vivaro/trafic) and one of the injectors has given up after 60000 miles, luckely nissans 5 yr warrenty covers it otherwise it could run into thousands!!

Tim why not keep a soft head sweeping brush in the back to clear the snow off the windscreen roof bonnet etc think you will find most motors wiper mechanisms will struggle especialy if the snow turns to ic

I used to repair these vans before I retrained, the reason the injectors go is swarf, an this is due to when the fuel filter is changed I the correct priming procedure isn't followed is makes the pump run dry and then starts stripping the metal from inside the pump and then chucks this into to fuel system

The older 1.9CDTi`s are OK. The newer ones fitted with the Renault 2 litre engines are a nightmare for seized injectors. One seized injector in 2010 cost me ÂŁ800. Another a few months ago cost ÂŁ1200.

That was the last straw. Vivaro now gone (57 plate with only 55k on the clock) to be replaced by a quality make. VW.

The Vivaro 2,0 Renault hybrids are dropping like flies now, will never touch one again.

I had brushed it off, and the snow was soft, it was the slab of snow that slipped down from the roof that did it
