Anyone who owns a Vivaro, be careful in this weather!, DO NOT try and clear large amounts of snow off your windscreen with your wipers!!

I did and found its achillies heel, the linkage is connected to the gearbox with a simple ball and socket arrangement as is normal, unfortunatly on this particular model, a large amount of snow is enough to dislocate the joint.

And re locating is a 2hr ish job that involves stripping the entire scuttle panel out!, no fun at all this evening, on the drive, in -2c with it snowing!

Sounds familiar, at least the injectors probably haven`t had time to weld themselves to the head yest and you might get it back in a week or two. If they have, maybe a month

I used to repair these vans before I retrained, the reason the injectors go is swarf, an this is due to when the fuel filter is changed I the correct priming procedure isn't followed is makes the pump run dry and then starts stripping the metal from inside the pump and then chucks this into to fuel system
For the owners of these vehicles, what is the correct priming procedure ?

i once had a primastar. just still under the 3 year warranty. failed th staret anf eng. man.light on. main daeler a it 8weeks, determined it was the injectors. head off, sent to engine specialist. injectors cleaned except no 1 which they destroyed so fitted a new one. 3 weeks later no1. injector fell out. main dealer says it's now out of warranty, the injectors weren't covered anywqay as the are a "serviceable item", so we want ÂŁ90/hour to diagnose and fix. i drilled and tapped the injector thread from 8mm to 10mm, got it running, and traded it in. never again.
