Over the past 12 months on this forum loads of people have posted up their availability to work for free just for the experience or to complete their NVQ. Here is your chance, offered firstly in the Trainee Section.

Location = Leeds

Type of work = Solar PV installs. Domestic, commercial & industrial. (dont worry, I'll show you the ropes and it is very interesting work).

Pay = Yes you will be paid but this depends upon your contribution to the company (not mine btw but I am head spark so I have a say in the running of things lol).

PPE = Bring your own boots and work pants. We will provide everything else needed.

Working conditions = A great set of lads on site (1 sparky, 2 apprentices, 4-6 roofers on any job + 5 office staff).

Tools required = 2 hands, 2 feet and basic hand tools, everything else will be provided or available. (you will also end up taking home a lot of company paid for tools, I'll see to that  )

Must be able to work at heights and confined spaces (essential requirement). Scaffold is provided on every job and training and use of harnesses + fall arrest blocks will be given if you ever work near the edge (you should never be required to do this, myself or one of the roofers carry out such works).

All in all this is a great opportunity for anyone in college/training. DC & AC Isolaters, SWA work, DC and AC cable runs, Inverter installs, mains work feeding into the Grid, installing metering systems, data installing + modem computer work, tray and galv conduit work,,,,,, there is a lot involved!!!

The TS members have first pick then I may have to offer this on the open forum. Any questions please send me a PM or post it up on this thread. (dont ask about pay, that depends?).

Good on yer, Paul! :)

Bit too much of a trek for me... Folks might want to know when starting, and how long for...?

This is a golden opportunity for someone... :)

Cheers Steve, shame you live a bit to far away.

Good points you have brought up.

Start = asap/whenever the correct person is ready.

How long = Until the end of February at least. Depending on the workload (due to the PV FITS payment scheme) it may continue for a few more months afterwards?

And yes this is a golden opportunity. With the verity of installs, they will learn more in a month on the tools than in the workshop at college in a year.

Your input to this place is invaluable mate, you truly are the godfather of the trainee section lol. This is a great opportunity for someone to get a good bit of experience on the tools and be paid for it as well.

I wish i was not so far away also. Could do with it at the moment as well lol.

Whoever snaps this up is a lucky person for sure. :)

Godfather??? Just the same as any other Mentor putting time and effort into you guys (and I'm nothing special btw). We just do it in different ways. Yes it is a good opportunity for a lot of different locations/forms of installs.

If only I was in England I'd ask my master for time off to come help. Great opportunity for one or two trainees, hope they jump at it.

I'd love to sit on your shoulder for a week and see how you do things in Australia. Seen a lot of funny pictures on the web (you know what site  ).
