Hi all , I am new to this forum, just looking for your advice for industrial electric motors, my question is there any reference standards for painting the enclosures of industrial electric motors when needed as part of the PM. Appreciate your guidance and advice for any international references or best practices with recommended coating types and procedures.
Best Regards, Salah

When you say 'enclosure' do you refer to the body/frame of the motor itself or to a larger housing that the motor sits inside?

The enclosure which I am refering to is usually part of the motor (motor frame) and protects it from contaminants in the environment in which it is operating. As you know, the type of enclosures are categorized as either open or totally enclosed, and there are different types of enclosures within each category. Thank you

The motors which which we have in our facilities are lager motors, they are purchased with blue color as manufactured, we just need to repaint them with the same color. I need to know the guidelines and requirements to repaint them again following international standards.

The colours of motors don't generally have any meaning unless the particular site has their own colour coding scheme.

I vaguely remember there are recommendations for manufacturers regarding coatings on motors from standards authorities like ASME but to the best of my knowledge there's no standards regarding repainting for maintenance purposes.
