[ElectriciansForums.net] Parallel resistances - 25 characters

Little mop up. Where am I going wrong? Done loads of parallel resistances before with no problems

1/3 is 0.3333333...
add the 0.03333... that is missed off and then the total is 0.8583333...
1/0.8583 = 1.165 as Massive1 has said above.

i made it 1.1723329426Meg.

Ah yes. My calc come up with 0.3 with the dot above the 3 which means reoccurring...

Thanks :)

If you’ve got a scientific calculator then just use the 1/x button but don’t forget to press 1/x button at the end of your adding of all the resistances values.
10 1/x + 10 1/x + 8 1/x + 5 1/x + 3 1/x = ..... 1/x = 1.165 or rounded 1.17M ohms

If you do it with common factors then you go from 1/10+1/10+1/8+1/5+1/3 to
12/120+12/120+15/120+24/120+40/120
=103/120
so 120/103 =1.165049MΩ

I just used the devision button and typed it in as it appears and it came up with the correct answer

how do you think we managed back in the day when calculators were just a dream in clive sinclair's head?

thast's not a calculatgor, it's partof the starship enterprise.

That's not just any calculator that's a Casio FX-991ES Plus not as good as FX-85gt+
