next time ask them "have I done anything unlawful?" and never "consent" ;-)

Lol, I've just got today a Debt Collectors letter for company van I drove in 2011 for a "private parking offence".

"Call this number now to reduce your fine or this will be handled with our "Legal Team"!!!

I called the number on the letter, the chap on the end of the phone did not have a good ten minuets of his life! They are a Debt Collecting Agency and not enforcers. I asked for all the information they have about the matter, this has upto a 70 day time scale btw.

It's only a ÂŁ100 fine at full costs. I'll have my fun and cost the DCA more money per hour than what it is worth to them. BTW I used to be a Debt Collector 15 years ago

I wonder could we mere mortals pull that stunt on here with the admin/mods whenever we have been overly boisterous.
A free man of the forum :deal:

"Over boisterous" Sir? I'm only playing by the laws of the Road Traffic Act (look it up).

"A free man on the forum :mickey: " = Read the rules that you agreed to when you signed up? (look it up)

No offence buddy but you're an idiot for even engaging in conversation with them. That letter should have gone straight in the bin and been forgotten about. Never in a month of Sundays will a debt collection agency pursue a 'debt' (not that a debt even exists as under contract law a breach of contract cannot be subject to financial penalties) for private parking companies if they never hear back from the alleged 'offender'.

You'll be hounded for months now!

Do not pay them a penny, and ignore all further attempts by them to contact you. I cannot stress this enough!

I doing this for my own personal entertainment! Called them because I did not know the reg plate of which I was accused of, company van from a company I worked for in 2011. Still mates with the owner and going to his wedding later this year so this is for him (as the registered owner) well as me.

Anyone working in a city center gets the odd parking ticket from the private sector, always ignored and not paid but this is a bit different. I'm just going to have a bit of fun with the DCA and waste their time. This is just a game for me

The rules changed last year I think. They can get your details from the DVLA. I had one from the local leisure centre when I didn't pay because the machine wouldn't accept my money, it just kept rejecting it. I initially ignored the letter but it escalated so I challenged the ticket on the basis stated.

They then contacted me stating that I hadn't challenged in the allowed time. I responded saying that either I had the right to appeal to the independent service or I didn't, they couldn't have it both ways. I never heard from them again.

Got a letter yesterday stating the action is on hold for 70 days to allow time for them to gather information.

Lol, take all the time you need, I'm not paying it.

I get a fair few of them a year and always have fun with them. Current one I'm challenging them on the legitimacy of their signs. I haven't heard from them in months now which is a real shame :(

Freemen on the land doesn't work (someone tried it in Canada locally by refusing to pay his rent to his landlord, local cops weren't keen as they weren't sure of the ins and outs...landlord took it to court...judge took one look, approved the eviction notice and pretty much told the cops not to be so ####ing stupid and nick the muppet, cue him refusing to open the door, until cops told him, open it or we knock it down...he went away in cuffs PDQ...after printing him "downtown" turned out he was wanted in another province on various other charges including fraud, embezzlement and other things....and had tried the FMOTL gig before and then done a fly by night when it didn't wash)
Put it this way....you can be any other nationality or none....if your on uk soil then the courts have jurisdiction over you, you can argue you opt out by being a FMOTL all you want...still won't stop them sticking you in a cell for contempt of court / tax evasion / failure to supply a sample of breath / provide details to the police / etc etc etc
