Hi I am an old school 15th Ed AM2 sparks, with T&I qualifications but i mainly do industrial work and am I not Part P registered but have kept up to date with the regs up top current part 18. I do not do Domestic work.

I have done the Ev charging course and solar panel and storage courses too. So i do consider myself to try and do the right thing...

I am having a small single story extension done on my home, it needed no planning permission but obviously needed building control notification. BC have been notified, i have paid and they have granted approval of the plans.

I will need to install new lighting and power that i would like to design, install and test myself. Most likely new DB with SPD and RCBOs. Current DB does contain RCBOs, but all AC type, plastic enclosure too. In the past BC have accepted test and inspection certs from a third party part P sparks when i have done work at home as part of a build. Is this still the case in circumstances like these? Honestly speaking i would rather provide the test results and EIC myself.

what do others do or know of that is accepted with BC.

It has been a while since i had work done and i know things change.

Cheers

John

Personally, I'd just complete an EIC and send it in, on a don't ask, don't get refused basis.
Totally agree.

You have said you are qualified so if you have the 18th Edition and have or have access to an MFT with up to date calibration and you have gone through Building Control and paid the fee. Extension would include electrics amongst other things so that is compliance with Part P.

Also agree with the other answer take lots of pictures especially first fix since that is an area that can't be proved after the fact.
