Discuss PART A building Regs in the Solar PV Forum | Solar Panels Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net
don't know about all CPS schemes, but NAPIT have a specific category of notification for MCS companies for solar PV installations, which means they notify both for part P and for structural loading. It's Only PV I'm interested in today, I'm not aware of anyone who calls building control out to check the roof once finished and sign part P off. Quite contrary to what one potential customer just informed me
NAPIT Registration Ltd are authorised by DCLG to approve competent installers to self‐certificate compliance with the Building Regulations for companies working within the scope of row 17 and 20 of
Schedule 3 of the Building Regulations 2010. NAPIT’s approved installers are required to verify in the self‐
certification that the installation meets all requirements of the Building Regulations; including where
relevant Part A (structure) and Part C (water ingress) as well as those parts relating to electrical or heating
work.
NAPIT only approve companies under this DCLG authorisation if they are also certificated as approved
installers under DECC’s Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS). The assessments of companies under
MCS includes, for those technologies involving roof work, verification that they are either competent to
assess roof structures or that they have procedures in place to bring in a competent supplier or
subcontractor.
NAPIT’s notification system does not allow Part P electrical contractors (Schedule 3 rows 11 and 12) to use
the notification descriptor “Installed photovoltaics (PV)” or “Installed a solar collector (solar thermal)”
unless they are also specifically approved under Row 17.

as MCS solar companies are supposed to either have the competence or sub contract it to self certify for that.
so yes we self certify for it, no we don'[t expect building control to check our work, as we've self certified it.
or as NAPIT put it....
Well you're a big boy be rude back.He was actually quite rude
