As I see it we dont have to sing off any ones work we dont trust I would not put my name to any ones work just because they rang up and asked I wold only put my name on my work. I would just not do it if they find some one who will good look to them.

Funny isnt it, it says part p was brought in in response to members of the public being killed by dodgy electrics which has been going on for years,this only happened when some mp,s relation copped it correct me if i,m wrong. on another note don,t you think rcd,s have a lot to answer for? I mean back in the day when there was none joe public left electric largely alone "cause it can kill you" now with rcd,s etc there seems to be an attitude of"well if I get it wrong it will trip out".Same thing happened with cars and airbags they drive like loons "cause I,m alright my car has airbags" imo all airbags should be replaced with large spikes that deploy on impact and something equally unpleasant should be found to replace rcd,s then hopefully joe public will give electricity and electricians the respect we deserve.

Yep Phil I think it was an MPs daughter who died and as for airbags well my understanding was the yanks wanted them because they were too lazy or fat to wear a seat belt and on that subject you may have noticed more young drivers being prosecuted for dangerous driving because they were running about in a old or basic car that only had a drivers airbag so as far as he is concerned he can drive like a madman so what's the catch well the 2 girls and the other lad in the car get seriously injured or killed and this fool gets to smirk outside the court so do airbags and RCDs save life's you bet but in the wrong hands they can be just as deadly.

Same here. I'm sure some electricians would see it as easy money though unfortunately.

Part P consultation ????????? Guys here is how I see it as a Scottish spark looking in from the outside Part P was created but has had problems no people want it done away with but heres the rub the people who created,run,manage and make a living out of it well its their job to make it work so giving it a tweak every 5 years a bit the 17th edition ie get new books and supplements to keep up to speed was meant to happen. But they did not see the backlash on this as it opened the floodgates and they found that they could no longer control it now if they had a bit of humility they would put their hand up and say its not working lets go back to the drawing board. So you need to consider Professional Ego or in other words we cannot be seen to look like fools but how do we get out of this easy says a media person lets just call it a Part P Consultation

"Consultation" is just another way of saying that everyone got a say in the matter but nothing will change. At least it is "seen" to be democratic..... Remind you of anything?

Guitarist . myfriend.

Been working on two bigjobs . two different companies .
First company . 1st fix . 2391-10 & myself sorted out some problems & reifications . one major one fixed . second fix .work done in two weeks signedoff .
Thisfloor was in a university . massive . 5 floors . we had the top floor/ ground floor .

Secondcompany . 1st fix & second fix done . all in one . asked the charge hand to bring . 2391 his reply was we will .
That man had his work cut out. ground floor alone . 40% faults top floor 50% .
2391chap . on the top floor alone it hadtaken him 2 weeks to test & rectifyproblems . with two electricians helpinghim . on the ground floor alone one small three-phase board was to get poweredup by DNO on the day . Reversed Polarity. on three phase board . “ Bang “ have you every seen a Boss face when this happens .

Hadto get another 2391-10 chap . in to help .

my point is.

I feel that 2391-10 . doget a lot of heavy **** flung at then .a lot of the times there is no need for it most of the time .
Yes I do agree . if itwas done right in the first place . theywould be no problems .

Everybody wants . Everything done yesterday .

My third item .
We have & joiner just passed his Part P . he has just putflyers around doors for any electricalwork need done .
His words . like for like . sockets / pendants sets . Etc . Ifeel that there is too many doors are stillopened . does it stop there .

Part P . I fell it should have been left for Electricians. this is my own option
