Hi, there are 2 different part p courses to choose from, a five day one and a single day one. Does anyone know the level of experiance that is required for the one day course? it just says, " for the more experianced electrician". Any info on part p would be great, cheers.

Do you not have a summary of what both courses offer, the 5 day one is skimpy enough, makes you wonder what the 1 day can cover!

Part P isnt a qualification...it is a building regulations document concerning domestic installations that has to be complied with by law....Courses can only give an overview of the document and it's requirements. Please dont get the impression that such a course will make you 'part P qualified'...there is no such thing.

agree with wirepuller. better off with electrical quals., then joining a scheme to comply with part pee.

ahh, so do you not have to pass anything as such? they just tell u the regs and off u pop?

ive done my 2330 level 3 and plan on doing the 17th edition and then move on to test and inspect. I thought i would have to go part p then after 6 months of being self employed , join a scheme, am i wrong?

do the 17th, then apply to napit if you are going to be self employed doing domestic. you can download the part p doc. and read it. that's free.

so with the 17th, 2330 and joining napit ( or any other scheme) i wouldnt have to bother with part p?

you have only to work in accordance with the part p doc. which is the part of the building regs. that deals with electrical work in houses. all you need to do is read and understand. it's not rocket science.

No Part P is covered in the C&G 2393 exam. This is not required to join a scheme but always shows some knowledge about the building Regs.

2393 is a pointless exam, you are on the right track after gaining 17th apply to join a scheme and once member you will be allowed to sign off your own works and thus comply with part p.

only part p, des. drink more beer to attain full p.

The content of this thread is disturbing me slightly.
Its not Des and his plumbing thats the disturbing bit either.

Couldn't help thinking about this today.....a five day part P course?????......given that the end result will be a pointless, useless 'qualification'...and you can read the part p document online for free.....and the document is self explanatory???......Are these courses just a scam?..How the hell do you make a straightforward document take up 5 days??
Am I missing something here?
