Part P to inspect

I had a call from a cousin regarding helping out with some electrical problems. She has applied to her council for a loan / grant for work on her cottage and they have sent someone out to do a survey. The paperwork they left states that they will need a EICR to prove the installation is ok, but also states that this is to be carried out by a "government scheme approved" part P contractor. I am prepared to carry out the EICR and any remedial work but I am not in any scheme as I am employed full time and don't do domestics that much. I was under the impression that any competent person can carry out an EICR. I am suitably qualified with nearly 30 years in the game, JIB technician and 2391. Could the council reject a certificate from me??

Just an update, my cousin was persuaded to avoid the council grant, apparently they end up with rights over your property, so I was tasked with making the place safe. These photos are typical of my findings. I spent last weekend replacing damaged and re terminating accessories, replacing flex with 3 core + E and sorting out multiple jb`s. I will be testing this weekend and repairing anything else I find. I don't usually work on domestic and cant believe that someone could install to this poor standard

Good pictures and good luck with finding ALL the dodges...I should really start recording some of my joy filled findings including,this week,a pensioner who had a FCU fitted for a boiler by a scheme spark and asked him to sort her standard lamp and display lighting on some cabinets. He had put 3 pairs of bell wires into a plug top to power the three,rewireable fuses,no RCD,cables laid the length of the lounge under carpet and over the grippers.:death:
