Stroma Certification Scheme Part P with Stroma

When you mention the tester, do you mean it's not actually calibrated at the minute?

Apologies for saying this, but how did you think you could pass without having the latest regs book?

Simply because my friend has just been accepted with Napit and he had the red book! Plus the two other electricians I know have the red BS7671... plus it was only 99p on ebay!!

I've now coughed up the £51 for the green, should have done that in the first place really!!

Plus £30 for a calibration check box.

So far my venture into electrics has cost in the region of £2500. Shouldn't I actually be making some money?? :confused5:

It is calibrated. The assessor wants me to purchase a calibration check box, which I have now done.

Having the Red book should be a fail IMHO.

Invested £2500.00 - you better watch out their are many on here who will tear into you for such a remark.

If, and its a big IF you can make money in the first year think of it as a bonus. Breaking even would be a good start.

Hey thank you for the feedback, seems like there is nothing too serious on your side of things.
At least we know they are thorough, their website did seem a bit OTT.
I think they believe they are providing a service not just grabbing money.
Surprised they must have a check box since this is just checking and not in relation to any standard so they do not really know what they are doing, just blindly following what someone has told them, however that said they are trying very hard and that must count for something.
You have probably got a better standard of assessment and this should stand you in good stead for the future.

Good luck.

Money may yet come, have patience, time will tell!

nice to know sroma is up and running and cheaper!! would of gone with them if hadn't paid elecsa.

Well I guess I could have argued the point, but 'yes' it was one of the things that he said he wanted me to have in order to pass. He didn't expect me to get one of the really expensive ones that can check RCD and Loop impedance as he said I could nominate a socket in the house for that, but he did expect me to purchase a simple check box or cal card.
