just a quick one do you need to be part p registered to be able to work at peoples houes or are you ok doing a job just as long as you get somebody who is part p to check it over with after
 
YES and NO with the emphasis on NO (but ive been guilty of checking others work and signing it off) so YES but i only check trusted people (i.e 1 or 2 people i know ) and i now make my checks at regular stages.

Any work that requires notification to the LBCA must be notified. Therefore most work in a dwelling must be signed off by and notified be a part P registered sparks. However you can notify without being a member of a scheme, but this can be long winded and expensive, contact your local building control for details.
As DurhamSparky says you might be able to arrange a deal with a registered mate. But really the answer is as above.
