Are you fully qualified or a five week wonder? If you're fully qualified then none of them, save yourself ÂŁ500 a year mate! It's purely a scam to get money out of hardworking electricians to line the pockets of a few very rich corporate scumbags!

I can't say for sure, but I wouldn't be wanting to throw ÂŁ500 at a company that might not exist in a few months time! (That's if things go our way! *crosses fingers*).

Give over....he'll get 12 months out of it, at least.:leaving:

Ha ha nicely im Fully qualified etc I'm working as a shift spark at the min

Probably better off keeping your cards close to your chest then. Carry on as you are, if you've got a steady income and see how things turn out in the near future. Not the ideal time at present, unless you're desperate with a shed full of work in the offing.

Totaly agreed mate. But just curious how would you report the work? Call building control every time? No offence, purely curious

It's all a long story but I am getting passed quite a bit and building control cost a fortune

If you are fully qualified and hold an inspection and testing qualification then building control should not cost a fortune. Just the admin fee of them issuing a building regulations compliance certificate to the householder once you have sent in a copy of your EIC. You need to have words with them mate!

They may want to send a nominated inspector out to check the standard of your work.

I think last time they wanted to charge round the ÂŁ150 quid mark so I said f### that

The cost to notify is ridiculously high (rewire minimum to make it worthwhile), - I suspect building control charges are kept disproportionately high (by government) to 'encourage' us to go down the scheme route.

How is ÂŁ150 a justifiable fee for:

A bit of admin.
A visit from an inspector for less than 1 hour (who, let's face it, knows less about what he's looking at than you lol)

There are many ways around it, ultimately however it is up to the customer to notify, not the contractor. I say no more.

Which if you used as your "defence", the prosecution would state that you were operating under the pretence of fraud. We are the knowledgeable "ones" and have an obligation to inform the less informed home owners
