The regs. do say -

"(6A)
A person intending to carry out building work in relation to which Part P of Schedule 1 imposes a requirement is required to give a building notice or deposit full plans where the work consists of—"

Who is that? You or householder?

Which if you used as your "defence", the prosecution would state that you were operating under the pretence of fraud. We are the knowledgeable "ones" and have an obligation to inform the less informed home owners
You're quite right, but who said I wouldn't inform them prior to work starting?I'll keep people up to date with how I get on with my LABC as I will be discussing things with them next week.

Certification of notifiable work

a. Where the installer is registered with a Part P

competent person self-certification scheme:

1.18......

1.19............

1.20...........

b. Where the installer is not registered with a

Part P competent person self-certification

scheme but qualified to complete BS 7671
installation certificates:

1.21.......

1.22 Where installers are qualified to carry
out inspection and testing and completing the
appropriate BS 7671 installation certificate, they
should do so. A copy of the certificate should
then be given to the building control body. The
building control body will take this certificate into

account in deciding what further action (if any)

needs to be taken to make sure that the work
is safe and complies fully with all relevant
requirements. Building control bodies may ask for
evidence that installers are qualified in this case

I was under the impression that it's the householder's responsibility but, being the one 'in the know' regarding the requirements, I wouldn't like to take a chance with the authorities/courts.

edit. It may be useful to have a look at some resultant examples, not that I'm too bothered

and you`d be right....caus it is.

theres such a thing though as duty of care as the responsibly/skilled/informed/competant person to make the person ordering the work aware of the need to notify LABC...

I think the only way we will find out about the responsibility of Part P notification will be when someone is prosecuted for failure to notify works carried out.

Seeing as Part P has been around for over 8 years now and have yet too see it happen either every job is notified correctly or LABCs up and down the country are just not giving a ---- about it.

Exactly, that's my point regarding not being bothered. Who can find an example?

Time wasting charade, to some degree.
