Can I register as part p when working for another company as I'm starting to pick up a lot of private work I'm just unsure how far i can go with still being employed for example can I obtain public liability insurance ?

Yes, Register as self employed...have a look on the HMRC website at employed and self employed...

Get yourself insurance and part p registered etc and go from there...

I think the biggest stumbling block will be how your boss feels about you moonlighting whilst still employed by him.

May not be the best idea - I'd check what your employment contract says or you could get dismissed rather sharpish!

Most of the time the private jobs I did were for my colleagues and even the various managers and even the big boss, so I think he knew I did privates

If it were me and you could test and certificate your work i probably wouldnt even register for part p now, just give a cert for the work you do

as long as its to regs can they really do owt? They don't do anything about the dangerous work thats done by builders

just get some insurance
