Hi folks.

First off, apologies for another "what pat" thread.

I have an ancient machine which is rather cumbersome and although I'm a bit of a troglodyte, i accept its time to move on. I'm looking for recommendations for something up to date and portable enough to manoeuvre about under office desk environments. I don't need bluetooth or flash capability.

I was thinking something along the lines of Seaward primetest 100 or Kewtech KT71 - anyone care to offer an opinion or further suggestion. Battery operation is not essential.

Looking at the Kewtech KT71 myself. A friend of mine has one and tried it out testing some 4way extension leads, very fast, nice and compact. The weakness as far as what is likely to go wrong with it is the dial which is used to change settings as that is the only controller on the tester and you do end up using it a lot if you change settings. Having said that it would not put me off buying one.

I am just totally confused I am, thinking of buying a PAT tester and I asked on this forum about a month ago I was thinking of buying a basic one but I do work for a letting agent so I wrote to them and asked if I was to buy one how do they like their documentation and the reply was "In electronic form" so its back to the drawing board for me plus I am still trying to get my head around charges

I have a KT72, and it's pretty good for the money. You can still do their reports electronically just by typing the results up afterwards on the PC.

Is the KT72 the battery version, like the idea of portability but not sure about being able to carry out all the tests without the tester plugged into the mains...

Depends on how many tests you are going to carry out per day; the battery operated ones are good value for money, but if you are
doing lets say a whole weeks worth of testing in one go, then i must say they are really not up to it. Perhaps then look at something
like the Seaward Europa Plus, which is an excellent bit of kit if you're doing PAT-testing on a daily basis.
