We are in the market to buy a PAT tester. I'm looking for recommendation and pros and cons on good units with value for money. The last one i used was about 12 years ago before i went on my own and was an old Robin model.

We will not be undertakening PAT testing for clients just own our own site power tools and all the office equipment etc. About 300 tests every 3 months.

I would really like a downloadable version with the ability to print the labels. Do you need to buy a separate label printer or can they be printed via a normal PC printer. I really want to make this as easy and quick as possible.

Thanks in advance

Probably best getting the most basic bundle that comes with a printer included.

If you check out the forum sponsor - test-meter.co.uk - they will have all the bundles and prices.

Then return to this thread with the model you are thinking and those here with the experience in that instrument can offer you their tuppence worth.

Only sensible tips I can offer is some good testers, even the super seaward 600 only test earth at 200ma, and sometimes you need some current behind the test to avoid false readings, and to force faults if the earth bond is dicey

Have a look at the Kewtech KT77 - it's basically a Seaward Europa within a different shell.

The benefit to you as a customer is that it comes supplied with software which will allow you comprise reports and certificates free of charge - this would normally cost ÂŁ269+VAT.
