Hi, I don't know if any one can shed some light on this matter but.......... I have my own pat testing company and need to diversify a bit. I have found that testing for estate agents is very lucrative but have recently lost a huge contract due to the fact that I don't do periodic reports. I phoned a company yesterday and for me to do a part p course and more was a 17 day course costing ÂŁ2200!
I was speaking to my father in-law last night and he said (and he knows the guy who owns the company that I lost the contract with) that the only reason I didn't get it was because I didn't do the testing of the boards (consumer units) and that he knows of some young lad who went on a course which cost a couple of hundred quid which enables him to test the boards in let properties.
So does this cover periodic reports/tests for landlords? I REALLY want/need to get myself into this and does any one know what I need to do or what course I need to go on to do this?

the qualification your on about is the 2391 qualification

this attracts a 30-40% pass rate amongst qualified sparks

you will also need your 17th Edition 2382 qualification and EXPERIENCE testing Consumer Units to even think about touching any thing!!

Unfortunately there is no Quick Fix soloutiuon you need to learn and develop!

on the plus side you dont need to register with any scheme to test propertys but a decent tester will set you back 500 quid...! plus calibration!

for PIR you will also need Professional Indemnity Insurance as if you test a circuit that is bad and you say its good and some body gets hurt BYE BYE!!!
