hi folks, here she goes

i have done that pat testing course and im have been chatting to few people about doing there pat testing. cafe's and shops.

the dude i was chatting said i have to be registered with niceic, can i join niceic for pat testing, so more less use there logo on test sheets.????

i am trying to add up how much all of this would cost to start it up. so if you have anything to add to this il enjoy reading. thanks.

insuance= ???
niceic membership?? if you can join them for pat testing??
 
New to pat testing so go easy..

When IR testing installed circuits on my MFT I make sure all loads are disconnected before testing at 500v as to not damage equipment Or test at L/N - E

So why on my new pat tester do I have 500v selection? What equipment is built to withstand the 500v IR tests when there only rated at 240v? I'm guessing I'm missing something very simple here?
 
PAT instruments test between LN connected together to earth at 500V DC just like the modified IR test for fixed installations. If it passes the 500 V test then it is deemed safe. It is just a carry over from the 500V IR test for 400V 3 phase fixed installations. Remember most LV cables are rated at 1000V anyway so the 500V test is no problem.
