Hi guys just a quick question if your going to set up self employed as a pat tester and are qualified, is there a need to have to join NICEIC or any governing body? what i mean is isit compulsory as theyve just quoted 400 quid to join them, and i am seriously wondering wether that 400 is not better of being spent on something more for my entertainment?

thanks anyhelp would greatly be appreciated.

Yes ÂŁ400 would be better spent on your entertainment.

If you'v got C & G 2377, Products & Public Liability together with Profesional Indemnity Insurances, then you'll be ready to go. Business build-up is more to do with the level of service you provide for your clients - and what they can see of you - than so called affiliation or acreditation memberships.

You can join the Guild Of PAT for ÂŁ15 I believe mate:). As patman said, get your insurances and off you go. Spend some of the balance on beer, curry and women, the rest just waste:)
