Pat testing

I am working in a warehouse at the moment but I am thinking of starting to do pat testing as well, (after I have taken my pat testing exam)

Once I have passed my exam am I aloud to test the appliances at my company? I have been told you are not aloud to test at your own place of work, it has to be an independent tester. Is this true or am i being told a load of rubbish?

You need to start by buying the Code of Practice, that explains exactly what you are allowed to do, it's all about competency, nothing to do with independence (despite the date)

If you are competant you can test wherever you like....you are being told rubbish.

Anyone can do it, in fact a lot of companies prefer to keep it 'in-house', eg schools getting the caretaker or handyman to do it.
