But having seen the PAT 4 since you mentioned it, I think I would go for that instead of the Fluke if I could turn back the clock.
 
Hi,
It is not possible to test an appliance through a transformer. The primary and secondary windings are electrically isolated from each other. All you will be testing is the primary side of the transformer.
 
Because the appliance will be electrically isolated, the only benefit you would get from running it via a transformer would be to check that it worked. You would get no meaningful readings on your PAT test equipment.
 
Yes it would - long way around but only if you can load the transformer. As some of you other guys using the right test equipment for the job, I currently operate 2 Seaward Supervova Plus(es). As such they have capability to carry out full range of 110v tests, and the test menu being processor controlled allows that without risk of applying inapropriate voltage applications.
