Pattress boxes with no board on one side to clip to?

Probably a simple solution to this but dumbo here hasn't found one yet. Wonder what you guys do in situation where need to fit pattress box but no plasterboard one side to clip to and no option for metal back box as plasterboard on other side of wall. Is there any other types of boxes can use? Or am just limited to battening across and cutting plasterboard to size?

Dry lining box.
(fast fix)
same size hole cut out as a metal back box.
The fixings are on sliding tabs that tighten against the plasterboard when screwing the face plate on.

put a timber baton in the hole fixed below the cutout and above then screw your backbox etc to this through the top and bottom. if worried about movement fill with expanding foam!

Hi John, could you clarify your question please? Are you talking about:

A stud wall
Plasterboard faced both sides
Position of backbox is too close to a stud, so no room for the clip from a dry lining box?

Not sure if I'm picturing this right or not, but could you use a metal back box screwed through the side to the wooden stud.

Appleby fast fix boxes, cut off the wing of the tab and screw to stud.
Marshall Tufflex fast fix boxes, cut / score a small groove between stud and PB for wing to rotate in to.

Any other fast fix box, throw away and buy one of the above.

slap on a bit of board, fit dryline box. fit socket.... ssimpless.
