Hello the agency I have been working for paid me into my bank like normal but another agency offered me work for a higher hourly rate but I have to sort my pay out myself or something through crest?

Am I self employed then for this role then?

What do I have to set up. Is it not as good to sort out your own tax

Looks like Crest is a payment services company www.crestplus.com. It's basically a company that charge you for their services to get paid your own well earned money into the bank. Usually still under CIS so they will do your tax for you and you usually have to pay a couple of quid a week insurance unless you have your own. Last one I was with was charging me 20 quid a week to paid into bank. Also they are usually a second company to the agency under a different name so the agency in a way are screwing us twice.

Oh nice

So I have to pay now to be paid?

Yea mate it's ****, been through 3 different pay companies in the last financial year cos of working through agency but subbing direct now so what's mine is mine! I was paying twenty quid a week to get a sms to my phone and a wage slip through post! Work that out over a full year and its a 1000 quid ofcourse you can claim some of it back but its ****! What annoyed me was one of the pay companys were taxing me on my gross then taking their cut after which looks to me I was paying their tax for them where the other two pay companys were taking their fee first then taxing me on the amount left over.

Well said and spot on,these parasites ought to have their days numbered, and I did hear that it may actually happen, if the EU gives temp workers the same rights as on the books staff
Good riddance to these leeches who prey upon our industry and get a good living off the backs of you sparks who work hard for your pennies

so what should I do then as Hays were paying me ÂŁ2 less an hour but they had an accounts department and paid my wages into my bank without me doing anything.

So what now?

Look mate there some bad ones out there but I have done this sounds like the limited company gig !! They set up a limited company with you as a director you pay a fee but get more money from the agency pros if you use it right and travel a lot saves money cons if you don't put enough through you lose !! A way of making it better for you is only invoice them/fill there time sheet in every 2 weeks therefore only pay fee twice a month I have used Madson before

Oh hey mate, thought you went off as you stopped with the PM's lol

thanks for the info mate

I started a job on a Friday and I would have had to pay 20 quid fee for getting paid one day the week after. I decided to ask them to hold that days pay and put it on timesheet for following week thus being owed six days pay in total. Well guess what I got my wage slip and they had paid me six days pay but put it down as two separate payments thus charging me twice i.e 40 quid!

The trouble is Chrisjh you can only use the payment companies that the agency are registered with.

I don't think that is the case as long as they are one of the main companies, ask them for a list. Like I said some of these companies do what they like but some are good I was taking home about ÂŁ60 a week more that was after there fee. rmc86uk do you fill in a timesheet ? If so did you hand the day in on a seperate sheet ?
