i have done a periodic inspection on a working mens club .has anyone have any ideas how to categorise the lack of rcd protection in public areas on the socket outlets i am bordering between cat 1 and 2 this seems to be abit of a grey area.any help would be gratefull

looked at the nic eic guidelines they recommend cat2,but looking at a case file a few years ago were someone died due to an earth fault on an appliance in a concert hall it was noted that when the property was tested the lack of rcd on the sockets should have been given a cat 1 on the periodic inspection report, see what i mean by grey areas

When I did my 2391 practical assesment, this very thing came up on my test rig. I coded it as 2 and he said that was correct. Have a look at the Good Practice guides on the ESC website, they have loads of examples of what to code things.
