yeah the inspection itself is very similar to our inspections in nz, the only real differences over here compared to nz/oz is we don't have ring mains. and always use a m.e.n. earthing system (multiple earth neutral, you get supplied an earth, but you still put down a stake, and you join then with a link in the board.. except for rcd protected circuits of course 
) or ever use the evil steel wire armoured cable (i hate that crap) we have neutral screen cable which is just like the steel wire armour, but copper instead of steel, usually its used as the earth.
