So over the weekend some little <S> pikey</S> tike snipped the 10mm bonding that was not in conduit from the garage. I am now 4M short and the rest is all done (although the circuits are not energised and this is for a new gas supply that's not yet fitted so it's safe). Its quite a long run - not too east to pull through again. (plus someone knocked my brand new leika laser level off the wall breaking the clamp, so I'm writing today off) Anyone crimp bonding? I could do inside conduit. Regards, Dave

Don't worry mate - I didn't think that you were - just didn't want you to think that I was!!

It's just one of those things I find as interesting, the fact that we all have access to the same kit, for roughly the same prices, to do roughly the same jobs with it all, using the same regs book - yet we all do things ever so slightly differently. That's what makes us human.

Yea and for me personally I found a long time ago is that it doesn't matter how ling I been doing something one way, there's always someone with a better way, that's why I love conversations like this as I always learn something!. Suppose that's the good thing, with so many products out there there is always more than one way to do something and do it right

Way to go = wago?

:D

I actually got this straight away, i just didnt know what to say in response. Its like when your boss tells a totaly rubbish joke and you feel obliged to laugh to avoid that awkward, "you might be my boss but your a total wassock" silence.

Im not calling you a wassock, i mean, well....awww digging a hole

It's OK, Wade, I think Jason (or "Wassock" as you refer) has filled his ban quota this month.
Me? Well now that I got it - I'm still wiping the tears

i much prefer crimps, to join cabl;es together permanantly, bacause if you use the correct tool (not a cheap one from maplins ect), then trhey dont fail. My job entails me lugging large cables all of the time, and these connections are subject to vibration, and an awful lot of tension. Ive never had one fail, or seen one fail that as done properly. wagos ect have there place, but i believe that they are better suited for JB's ect. for one to one connections, crimp is king.

you get your 10mm all connected up then some bugger will nick the gas pipe .... oh well problems solved
Not my gas pipe. I kind of hope they do. I beat the plumber to first fix as he was late), he comes along and apparently says it's easier for him to come down where i was and so moves my 2 FCU, D/S and light switch. What makes him think I should move!!!!???

The other day, I went to a high street Estate agent to replace an outside light in a covered way that leads to the back. Surprised (not really) to find that some b******r had nicked most of the bonding wire running along the outside of the building from the water stopcock at the back to the gas meter at the front. Replaced it - another half day's job for me!
Anyone else getting this sort of replacement work. How common is this type of theft?
Pete
